here's my boat: the cockpit is 7' long and measuring via the old (original) top, is 62" if I measure from the original mounting points on the inside portions of whatever that part of the boat is called (lol, I call it the sides of the boat). If I measure from the top middle of the side...

is there something along the lines of carfax or autocheck for boat engines? not as far as in accidents per say but that would let you check to see if an engine has been reported stolen in the past? got a guy local with an engine without a title I'm interested in for the lower half but I want...

how hard is it to regear an outdrive? current specs on the two I have are 1.98:1 while the 350 engine usually comes with either a 1.41:1 or 1.50:1. they are MC-1 outdrives. been looking around and trying to find this type of info but getting mixed info. I see the individual gear sets on ebay...

been reading and reading and I think I'm still confused. both gelcoat and topcoats (awlgrip, etc) can be used to "paint" the outside of a boat right? is the difference that gelcoat can be applied over the entire outer surface of the boat and topcoat can only be applied above the waterline?? or...

ok, the first pics are of the outdrive on my family's old boat. I grew up on this boat and plan to update/restore it. I got the ok from my mom so it will likely be my winter project this year. I know both are mercruiser but I have no idea what the engines actually are and my grandpa has...

friend stopped by yesterday with a boat he was delivering for a friend. he had no clue what it was but I liked the boat and want to know so I can search around locally and see if there's anything like it in the area for sale. anyway, I "think" the HIN is PIOJG137K798 but here's a bad pic of it...

I found this type of magma grill in the trash the other day. not this specific one though mind you, thats not my gf lol. anyway, after looking it over I can tell it should work but that apparently the previous owner lost the regulator and just simply tossed a $200 grill out. I had to buy a...

ok, this has been bugging at me for quite a while now and nobody local to me really has an answer. I've read threads on here where people say such and such engine is too big for their boat, etc and they cant run it. why? example (probably a bad one too but first thing that popped in my head)...

I'm at the point where I bought a pair of seats yesterday from walmart. just the cheapie $34 white folding seats. I want them both to swivel but man if seat hardware isnt expensive lol. the bases from walmart are $18 each in 13" height and then you add in the swivel itself for another $8...

ok, I'm helping my grandfather get rid of a couple old boat projects which will never ever see the water again for SEVERAL reasons lol...mainly rot. in return he's letting me salvage whatever I want off of them before they go. sweet. basically, he's got an older renken speedboat with a 350 IO...

ok, I've got a 96 sears gamefisher 15hp engine model #225.581508 after looking up the model number online, it appears these are made for sears by Force as far as I can tell. its got this round style fuel connector: which I'm pretty sure is just like this one...

my grandfather has been somewhat of an older boat collector for a little while but now realizes he's 92 and never going to do anything with them lol. he's been getting me to help him pull the boats one by one out of the darn woods to cut up and haul off to the dump. these boats are in BAD BAD...

ok, I need some help with two things that are irritating the hell out of me. the following pics from the previous post are pretty much a before/after of me cleaning the existing vinyl on the boat as I did that while I was hiding the wiring. I used a strong seacraft (or whatever its called)...

its been irking me the whole time I've been watching this show with my g/f but I cannot for the life of me figure out what boat it is exactly that the ex husband bobby lives on in a parking lot. anyone remotely know what it is and year? pic for reference:

got all the paperwork from my grandfather on his old 13' fiberglass scout. once I get all that sorted out at the DNR and get updated stickers I'm going to go pick it up from him. overall the boat seems to have sat up well and is still nice and sturdy but the top surfaces have to have...

is there a way to search transom numbers to find out any more information on a boat such as year, model, trim, etc? there's a boat in my neighborhood thats been sitting and last registered in 2007 that has a layer of crap on thats thick as ever. I'm curious if its for sale but in case it is I...

wondering how hard it would be to convert an outboard engine from tiller steering to a steering wheel setup? is this possible at all?

ok, neighbors boat engine is an 86 model 175 supposedly. i say this because it was a state owned boat and looks to be cobbled together. its got a 175hp powerhead on it and what looks to be 3 mismatched carbs that have had varying degrees of "work"/rigging done to them in the past. here's the...
