    As a place that is common to both heads I'm thinking the thermostat housing would be a good place. The temp runs about the same there as the hottest point on heads. Reason being I had a head bank run hot because of water deflectors after replacing all else and I want to monitor temp but only...

    Impeller won't free from drive shaft on 88spl. Any tricks to do this?

    After fighting with thermostats, lower unit bolts, **** rod stuck and other road blocks now I can't get impeller off of drive shaft. Steel housing/cup is off leaving impeller exposed but this baby aint budgin! Any ideas????????

    Is it OK to leave thermostats out in warm climate (s. LA) on Jhonson 88 Spl 1993

    One head bank running hot and found trash in thermo. Can I leave it/them out all together? Water is never below 50-60deg. Seems like a constant flow would be ok in South Louisiana

    What could cause this periodic sudden power burst that last only a second or two? I feel as though the engine is running fine then this happens and I wish it ran like that all the time.     I recently acquired this johnson 88spl motor and need to check water pump as part of my new owner maint. I've done most everything else and need some advice on dealing with shift linkage. I hear ugly stories about disconnecting it. Thanks!

    I'm getting only 60,58,65,60 on 88spl motot and she seems to run fine no load I hope to put her in the water today and see but I'm told by previous owner all is well. How could this be? I also notice water in number 4. I hope that's just a head gas get. Any ideas on this guys?
