That's kind of a cool thought you put in his head Jason. 4.3 Alpha complete is 860lbs. If it's a Thunderbolt LX 4 barrel it's 205 hp:D The PO of my 201 said it went 65mph ( this has yet to be proven), should be an interesting project.

Isn't the 860 lbs including outdrive? I used to fly about 250 mph when I first got my tinny on the water. Then I turned on the GPS.

Well, I guess it's decided. 4.3 Starcraft it is. Will have to come up with a cool name or something for this mod.
Thanks for all the support fellows, you guys gave me the push I need to go with it:rolleyes:

Well I guess here's my first short list:
1: finish hull cleaning, get ready for gluvit
2: locate a rebuildable 4.3 or running( doesn't matter as I will go thru it regardless)
3: temporary mount my alpha one and test for fit( I thought Azlo did that and had to change something on the hole)
4: new transom
5: trailer rebuild, practice painting skills
6: fuel tank order???

Well that should keep me busy for a while,

I think you'll be just fine with that V6 in there. I'm not really a "go fast" boater and I really don't feel like yur over powered or anything. I do think she'll be lively n' fun though! :thumb:

(Course, I am thinking of the 175 horse version. If yur building out the 225 MPI version, wough baby:eek:nthego::flame:)

Yeah that 225 version would be a ball but that's more boot and pita wiring. I will stick with the 175 2 barrel carb version. Don't want it to cost me a fortune in fuel either.

That 4.3 is from a dealer paying for the ad here. And no mention of any warranty. Plus shipping from Florida. A private seller is going to be a better deal with the same guarantee.

Okay so here's some thoughts I had today. I think we all know now that Jason is self proclaimed bottom feeder, and with his progress and projects I call bs, in a good way, but that's me. More like :first:

Now myself on the other hand, I will give the bottom feeders on here a run for thier money. So with that said...... Going to use my flat tank from the glasser, and make it a bow mounted tank. I have all that space under the cap that is just storage and figured that wont matter if I raise the floor there to make room for it. It's 28 gal, and best of all, I already have it. I think that will help keep my ballast even with the 6 cylinder upgrade. heres a name for thought, I will call her star scream maybe, sea trials will confirm I guess, in a year or two. I will put pics up this weekend of my tank idea.

Okay well, didnt make it to cabelas, just reloaded some shells. So anyway.....

First and foremost:
A sacrifice to the tin gods, or maybe just a loan. :D

Alpha one outdrive removed and ready for a test fit

Tested fit in progress, major fail:facepalm:
image.jpg

Well here they are side by side. The one on the left is the alpha one, the one on the right is my mc-1 drive
image.jpg

So see the differences, the exhaust ports one are a different size,( v-6 vs. l4). Also notice a slight difference in the bolt spread. The bottom four holes are the same, then we get to the studs and the alphas are higher then my mc-1. So..... Will have to draw a new pattern from the glasser transom so I can re-cut the hole in the sc. I thought I was going to have to do that, no biggie. Worth it for the engine upgrade.

Is the glasser destined to be crushed?

Just cut off the transom skin & use it as a pattern on the SC................

At this exact point, no crushing yet. Might repower with v-8 in a year or two down the ( after the sc) unless I find a islander, then yeah it's a crush job.

When Jas shows up to help, tell him I'm sorry, I jumped the 'cut the transom off' gun ;)

That 4.3 would be an awesome repower. I have pondered the idea myself for the SS. The only major factor would be mocking up motor mounts.

Jason switched from an inline 4 to a 4.3 V6. Filling the Stringer sinkhole in the transom was a much bigger obstacle.
