Looks great! The five would have been nice like you said, but what a fitting nightmare. The other thing about the 5 panel is that you have to worry about it banging in waves when it is open and not forgetting to latch it so it doesn't bust while running. Looking great!

Edit: After going back and looking at the paint job on the hull, I cannot decide if I think you should paint the frames silver/chrome, or if I like the black. Win either way I guess.

Nice seat and windshield work. Those seats look like they are going to be pretty comfy!

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Hey, thanks a bunch for stopping by fellas:)

Yah DJ, the wings can splay out and I could have angled the windshields on the consoles, few different ways to make it happen. Whe I set em up that way it was clear that was money:cool:

SMG - Shmoe? I won't debate ya on that one:facepalm:

Sprint - It's cool to see you out and fishing man!

Freud - Yup the 5 piece would have been awesome but I know in the end I would have never been able to get it together AND look good. It certainly would have been a practice in frustration for me.

Rheagler - I threw my cushions on em today and they were nice:D

So I really wasn't all that happy with the black I painted the prop a while back. So, this morning I grabbed the KleanStrip in the orange can and went to work. After a while the paint was off, hit it with the read metal sanding sponge, then steel wool, washed down with water and then mineral spirits. Then a wipe with Shark Hide, bolted on...

Much better!!:D

The boys joined me this morning and they were super interested the this stuff...

I told em our boat will catch sharks all day long now:D

I also taped up (took forever) and painted the windshields too...

That prop looks sweeet!

Well my friend, my budget scoffs at a stainless prop so yah, couple bucks in chemical stripper and a healthy dose of elbow greese did the trick:)

Although this one matches all my "brushed" alum so that's pretty cool:cool:

The windshields really add to the boat. I looked at the first pic of the prop and thought it was ss. Had to read it was alumimun. Really sharp.

Hey thanks guys!:D

So yesterday afternoon the SN and I went for a field trip. She towed perfect and looked great back there! Here was our destination...

I was amped and had some big plans for today but man if she wont start for me now!:(

She turns over fine but just wont fire for whatever reason. I'm headed out for some new plugs/wires and a spark tester. I think I'll grab a bigger batt too, this one seems kinda wimpy. I'm all ears if you guys have suggestions. I'm one sad kid right at the moment....

Bummer.

My only suggestion other then plugs & spark would be to check fuel pump, you're pulling fuel a heck of a lot further then before.

I don't remember, but where did the priming bulb end up? And after the wiring mix up, then the tilt/trim circuit getting powered up, did it fire or crank? Again, I don't remember.....

Hope it's easily/quickly resolved & inexpensive ;)

Deadman switch?

Yah, checked that one a few times already.

Primer bulb is right near the engine and I could hear fuel being pumped in so I should be good there.

Poop, I hope it's something simple too. I really want this boat to float today!

Your not supposed to invite Murphy to a splash Jas.

dj might have it right. That was the issue on my Mariner when we tried a water test when buying it. I think you have the same vintage motor.

Been a while since I've checked in and as always you are cranking and making it look easy. Sweet:cool:

Is Napa open in your neck of the woods on Sun? Condenser, rotor, & points etc shouldn't be outrageous $ & close to the great lakes, the might be in stock....

Check the spark at the plug w/ the tester yet?

My guess is kill switch or battery (you mentioned above that yours is a wimp)... I am told that these Johnsons like a lot of cold cranking amps...

Look for pinched wires that may be grounding out your spark. Coil wire on good? Neutral switch or it's wiring? Did it even pop once?

Bummer would of loved to see a surprise WooHoo video.:(

Remember the three -Fuel, Spark, Air.

I know you have an assistant that would love to sit in the boat and turn the key for you - As JB mentioned spark tester. Check for consistent spark at the plugs.

No spark? Battery or possibly an untested dead man(just guesses)
Yes - I got zapped and did the electricity jump and shuffle - move on to the next.

Fuel - Pull your line at the pump or just undo the filter screen cap and make sure your getting a steady (not aerated) stream every time you you pump the bulb. Could be air in the line.

No - could be a cheap/weak primer bulb holding you up.
Yes - check that you're getting fuel to the carbs by pulling the drain screws from the bowls.

Air? Not very common for a no start but you didn't cover or plug the carbs for storage and happen to forget about it?

K, popped in a fat new batt and new plugs. If I'm usuing this spark tester correctly (pretty sure I am) looks like a spark problem.
