For sure.
Since you've got the hook up, think you could enclose it and put a garage door on? That would be freakin' sweet. Galv steet holds the heat in a bit better than some tarps around a roof!

if you don't plan on fishing and keeping rods in the boat, I don't think I would waste valuable space on rod storage! of course that's ultimately your decision. what's the future hold for the boat? If you plan to sell it, then possibly consider what others would want in it. If your holding on to it and passing it down to the kids...are they into fishing? its all looking good man keep up the work!

Well, im only 21 so i hope i dont have any kids soon! but i honestly am not sure what the future holds. Ive always loved boats but never had one. I had good credit and could of easily took out a loan and bought a $5000 boat in good eonugh condition to use. But i didnt want to buy a boat and then come to find i only use a couple times this summer or that im not into boating. So with my situation and the boat if i invest $1000 into fixing it im sure i could atleaste break even!

I know I'm kind of late to the party, but what a great score! A free tinny? That's like winning the lottery! On your pour in foam there, I had the same stringer setup in my '90 Crestliner and had to pull out and replace the waterlogged foam before I sold it. What a chore it was! The stringers are close together and have gussets toward the bottom and it's really tough to get it out. It all comes out in small pieces and seems like it takes a lifetime to get out. Good luck and most of all have fun!

I would rather take a week tearing at the foam in small peices than take a month or two buidling stringers and fiberglassin! Tinny love! lol

No doubt about that! I also found some corrosion under my foam, I hope you don't have the same problem.

Yesterday i got all of the water out of the boat, well most of the water out. I started to get some of the foam out. What is the best way to get the foam out? its all wet and definitely has to come out. I was using the claw side of a hammer it worked decent but wasnt great.

Shovel and a sawzall.

I used sawzall and crowbar. Be careful not to puncture the hull. Use a long blade and push it striaght down slowly until you feel the hull then back up abit and start cutting.
Cut small squares and then start using the crowbar to pry out.. When the first square is out the rest come out easy..

My boat had three times as much foam as yours.

Good luck and be carefull. No holes.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

X2 on the Merry Christmas, bud. :D I broke the blade so it was too short to cause any damage. The shovel really worked best though.

Is it possible to not have a wood transom? Im beginning to think my boat doesn't have a wood transom. Theres a wood plate on the transom that's like acting as a giant washer. Did they make boats with metal transoms? Im 80 percent sure im pulling the motor, so i will replace that wood anyways.

Ill attach two pics, inside view and an outside view, i honestly hope the transom is not wood. Will make work so much easier.

Also do they make tinys that have inboards? and can you put an inboard motor on an outboard boat like mine? Im not going to as a motor setup could easily run $2000, but i was just curious about that.

Hey jp. Your second question first. I/Os - plenty of tin I/Os. Convert OB to I/O, sure if you have enough money, but not very practical. Ant it takes some redesign because the forces are exerted differently, really just not worth it.

Question #1 - Don't get your hopes up about a no wood transom. Lift a part of the cap over the transom, look inside the splash well by the motor clamps or remove one of the upper bolt/screws that hold that piece pf plywood under the motor clamp - dig in the screw/bolt hole. I really doubt you will find anything but wood in the transom. Sorry, bud. No biggie replacing the wood n the transom. Most of the tin hats have done it.

Absolutely.....im not convinced yours doesnt yet though.....i will post a pic or three of mine when i get the chance.

Theres a wood plate on the transom that's like acting as a giant washer.

On the outisde between the motor mounting bracket and transom skin?.....thats the transom pad.....it has no significant structural value.....its main purpose is to help "insulate" the motor from the hull and reduce vibration and wear on the skin.....

Thanks, The outside would has some rot, i havent core sampled it yet. But it still feels pretty strong i honestly think it would be fine as is, but if i pull the motor i will def replace any wood thats rotted.

Polypropylene sheeting of similar thickness is possibly a better option.....it will break down over time with UV exposure but you can slow that down significantly if you keep it covered up during storage.....

Can you see the vertical edges where it meets the port and starboard sides of the hull?.....this might be the best place to look at this stage and tell if its wood or not short of digging into it....if you have a space/void there its probably wood.....if welded you have tin.
