I believe the voting will begin Jan 5 2014 closing on Jan 15 2014. Correct me if I'm wrong JB.

Based on last year's discussion of missing the vote & the delay in getting Glen the plaque, I suggested:

Many are out of touch thru the end of the xmas holidays & new years. And the chaos of returning to work right after the start of the new year. Might miss some votes again.......

How's:
nominations start 12/1
run thru 1/5 (a Sunday for 2013)
pole starts late afternoon/evening 1/5 & runs thru 1/19 (a Sunday 14 days later).......

Gives a few an extra week (that may be vacation w/ some available boat building/finishing time) thru the holidays to get them wet, a few days to get them nominated after the holidays end, many will already know about possible late additions, and most of the nominees will be finished already. Then we've got 2wks to vote. The poll closes, the winner is announced & the current SOTY holder gets until 2/1 to have it on to the new winner/caretaker.

There were some logistics that caused a delay in getting Glen the actual plaque this year. So there may be a slight modification to the process of getting the 2013 winner the plaque, the boat's image plate & name plate this go around. Which may be a moot point as Glen is in contention again this year.

All nominee's have done good work, and are each uniquely a reflection of their builder..........

Except John's (Budski) 2000 Starfire, are there even any SC builds 'nearly' done that warrant consideration?

Sorry to hear about your health JB, we'll send all the good thoughts we can your way from WV.

I think it was supposed to be a jb reference, not a JB, and was meant for me. Glen & I had just recently had the same conversation via PMs @ SOTY dates. Silly user name, I often reply to PM's w/ my given name, John, and on very rare occasions end/sign off posts that way...

There's a LOT of John's, quite a few JB's & more Curt/Curtis' then I'd have thought in many forums I frequent, so I generally use the same user name across them all, an email moniker I've had since 1984: jbcurt00. Apparently it's served me well.... Jeez, it's been a while... More then half my life, carp, that made me feel even older then 'just' the since 1984 did...

How about I use JC instead, maybe? 1st & last initials :watermelon:

JB, take care of yourself this holiday season & resist the tendency to over do it. Be well.

Oh, I see said the blind man....

To confirm then: the Canadian delegation is currently a 4 to 1 majority with the nominations, we'd better step it up or at least rally some nominations.

Not sure if I qualify as a "nominator," but that's a really sweet boat and represents some impressive attention to detail. So, yes?

I also wanted to give JBCurt a big thanks for rep-ing my boat, but, I gotta say, while it's a solid and functional boat and I love it, it's really more of a "work boat" finish at this point. But hey, I'm happy to be a part of this esteemed group. Cheers.

Buying it, gutting it, AND SPLASHING it functionally is all it takes. I seem to remember some life circumstances that might have derailed the project, but you splashed it.

If Odessey hasn't received a nod, I put his flaming tin in the hat.

EDIT - Nominations only make a list of candidates. A member can name any number candidates. Voters make the actual choice. If I could find a copy of the Starmada by-laws, I would verify that.

Do we have a list of the current nominees?

I think I was was in a haze when I saw the list of those you found, Glen. I took the list as the nomination list. We only do this once a year. :facepalm:

I looked at the Resto list that Jason keeps up with and have a hard time tracking when the completions splashed.
