It'll just fall off and the speedo won't work. No biggee. Next tie you order parts get a replacement.

Thing is the spedomter part is in the lower part of the drive i would have to splt that open again to replace it.. if it aint gonna do any harm then ill leave it alone..
But wont water get into the lower unit or is that fine ?

The speedo pickup only goes to the dream-o-meter, I mean speedometer. It will not effect anything on the engine or drive. I forgot to hook mine up one time when I reinstalled my drive.

Ditto thumpar. That fitting can easily be replaced when you get around to it. The outdrive side is just a passage to a port on the front of the upper that is always full of water - replaces pickups that are drilled into your hull. Very nice of Merc to add that since most bad transoms start out with leaky screws holding the speedo and sonar pickups.

Glad you put your drive down this time. You should also store it in this position. Way easier on the bellows.

Can you tell if that knocking is coming from the drive or engine? To check if you are not sure you can take the drive off and put a hose in the bellhousing and run it. If the noise goes away it is the drive.

I didn't hear any knocking. Again, hard to tell with a video.

In the video it sounds like knocking on the one with the drive. Maybe it is just the audio.

Must be the way they sound on videos. I don't remember hearing that on my 2.5l but I didn't record it. It sounded like a knocking to me. The engine video didn't sound like anything was wrong, just the drive one.

Yes. I also didn't hear any knocking but it is tough to tell with recordings like that

While im waiting for the seals and bellows to come..
My engine is hard to start.. i have checked the plugs tbey were incorrectly gapped at .020 and not at .035
Also chnaged the fuel filter /water seperator and still hard to.start.and it runs rough when running but will die out and not start for about 4 to 6 tries ? Whats the
Firing order ? Or should i pump out all the gas thats in the tank ?

Did you do a vacuum test? Compression #s? Timing correct?
