Not hiding per se, just busy. Been on the road a lot; Kansas last week, Alabama the week before; the boss asked me to take a class and try to gain some edumakashun re: Sig Sigma and
Drumroll please.....

Working on the boat. The spousal unit us happy, I finally got the boat done, and out of the garage. It will only fit if I remove the car, bike and truck and put her in at an angle. So for 5 weeks she's been in the garage.

I'm happy to report that after 4 rounds of wet sanding, polishing with a 7" polisher and then some hand waxing, the gel coat looks, well, good. Not new, but danged good.

Also removed the A-F paint from the hull and transferred much of that to the garage floor, which I have now scrubbed clean under the watchful eye of CINC house. Took out the galley sink and plumbing, cabinet, etc and rebuilt and replaced. Did some upholstery work...

In other words, for 5 weeks I have been working ON the boat so now I can RELAX on the boat. If the weather cooperates I'll be out this weekend. If not, I'll still be out, and just sit below with the First Mate and find a way to stay occupied... The Spoils of War is looking better than she has since I bought her. About 200 hours later and a few hundred bucks for materials and she looks great. I'll post some pics this weekend after I get her in the water.

Hope all are well. Rol? Haute? Willie? You still dancing on the dark side?

Nah Gabby, (glad to see ya poking yer head in)! Me thinks you have me Bro wrong here. He does like to pick at hot topics, but once he starts 'em, (notice the number of primes he gave this topic on nearly every thread he was on for over a week), he then just sits back and watches the hot air, (n' probably smiles a lot). He has a crazy proposal to get Big Government into the awl bidnes, (but I don't take it seriously). Mr. Tree has me worried a bit, but I think he is similar to Haut, (just much more wordy), and lot of unrelated stuff to wade through. He did manage to strech n' cornfuse this thread n' I wanted it to debunk Haut's zingers. Oh well, I was hopin' it would help some on here. Great sport BRO!!!! JR

Oh I don't think I have any REAL opinion of Bro Haute, definately not a bad one anyway. I was just poking a sharp pointy stick into the hole to see what shook loose. He responded quickly, and with good humor.

Last time I typed more than two words I had my life threatened, have to be cautious you know.

TG I totally disagree here. This Country is much stronger then you think. I remember how amazed I was on 10/19/1987 that we could take that kind of hit. Or 9/11? Or even Vietnam in 1975? I think you are wrong about an automaker causing a deflationary depression. If Hillary, Obama, or John Edwards nationalizes our healthcare industry, that will lead to a deflationary depression. I can explain that one on the telle if you PM me. No single company going down would cause the problems you state, (even Walmart or Exxon which are much bigger then GM). This is a very strong and remarkable Country. We prosper in spite of the modern Liberal Democrats, (who are working closely with our enemies without current political cornsequences). That is very dangerous for our long term survival. Respectfully, (I guess we will have to disagree) JR

Sorry bro but if you think one of the big three or better said big two fal and it does not cause a depression,l your smoking some liberal Bs aka your ..........

There was a reprint in the Seattle Times today of a WSJ article about the obscene profit that refiners are making....
$30 per barrel gross......
I'm sure glad they are making big money by controlling the output.......;) :D

Your asking for facts from Haut? :D
Compaines make money or they go out of business. Sometimes they do real well, other times not so well. It a cycle, just like global warming is.

Yea, but don't you know it's not fair if Exxon is the company making the most money?!!?

Last time I checked, only one company made the most profit last quarter. If it wasn't Exxon, it would be another company.

Would we be bitching about them as well? Would we be demanding they increase production to reduce price?

Where does it stop, libs?

Re: Bro Haut vs Oil part 2

It looks like Exxonmobil managed too achieve record first quarter profits in spite of less revenue over 2006.
The company reported a new record first quarter profit of $9.3 billion dollars, up 10% from 2006, even as its overall revenue declined by $1.7 billion.

HHhmmm?. wonder how they managed too squeeze more profits in spite of buying less oil??? Nahh surely they wouldn?t be Squeezing the gas off at the refineries would the?

Poor Royal Dutch Shell first quarter 2007 earnings were $6.9 billion compared to
$6.1 billion, a year ago. Earnings per share increased by 17% versus the same
quarter a year ago,. of course the earnings percentage was better then Exxonmobile.

http://www.shell.com/static/investor-en/downloads/quarterly_results/2007/q1/q1_2007_qra.pdf

Just for grins I think I will add the profits up, for the year, just for these two companies, , it will be just a guess, but I think it is will be pretty close too the profits for the year.

Wow $64.8 billion profit, on less oil refined, that figures to be $1.248 billion a week profit, for just these two companies. Seems too me they could take a couple of weeks profit and invest in a refinery. Of course I guess that is the socialist in me coming out. Out. To expect any oil company, that can pay there executives $500 hundred million a year, and give them golden parachutes ,of $600 hundred mill, to do anything other than rape and pillage the American public is just delusional on my part.

You seem to be very good at research Tree. Please enlighten us to their profits over the last 30 years. And during that time frame monies invested by these 2 companies. I bet the picture is not as rosie as you paint it if you look at the big picture.

Why worry about there historical earnings, that would be kinda like comparing world war two battle tactics with the battle in Iraq, obsolete .The oil companies have learned that they can make more money, while having to produce less fuel.

Last summer oil traded at $79 a barrel; gas at the pump went for about $3.03 a gallon. Today, crude's about $65 a barrel and a gallon of regular unleaded costs $3.10.That is all of the research that is needed.

I do find it unfathomable that people, (especially Rehubs), are willing to just lay down & say, 'Well that's just the way it is"......
Or the tried & true statement from our overseas members, "Hey, It's way more expensive over here"....
If you are willing to accept the status quo, then you deserve what you get or pay.....
I amend my original statement to say that it is obviously the refiners who are reaping the windfall by controlling output....
The reason costs are so high is slapping you upside the head & you still refuse to see it despite all evidence to the contrary.....
& have a million excuses why it is OK
I will vote for the party that will do something about it......
A bunch of surrender monkeys, I tell ya......
That is all....

Come Haut, it's not unfathomable, you just have not thought about it enough. Some people blaize a path while others follow the beaten one.

Yes there is a supply problem right now caused by the refineries.

You believe the supply problems are on purpose, I believe otherwise.

You see evil, I see otherwise.

You have no proof, and neither do I.

How do you sleep at night knowing everyone is out to screw you over?

I still say you need a hobby, perhaps sailing? More relaxing than the wasp nest/stick one you have now. :D
