Re: engine fumes in cuddy
A lot of people make the trip down the Flint river from the locks at lake seminole to the Gulf of Mexico. I plan to do this in the spring. I've been speaking to others about joining me, and it seems I'm going to have at least a few boats joining. I'll keep you guys posted as plans become more specific, and dates start getting tossed around. My boat has never seen salt water... It's about time, huh? I've heard a lot about scalloping at the gulf...
mmmmmm!!! Have you done it?
Getting back to the boat, though, The carpet in the cuddy is not getting damaged. The water is contained in the watertight area we had assumed was the anchor locker. This weekend I'm working. The following weekend, I'll be bringing the boat with me to the lakehouse. I'll let you know how the fan I'd mentioned in a previous post works out with the fumes. I still havn't run a hose at the bow to locate the leak yet. I havn't had the time. Either before, or when I take the boat out again, I'll definitely find out for sure where it's coming from. I'm sure it's as you said, though, coming in at the hull/cap joint at the tip of the bow. I'll let you know when I find out.
Safe and happy boating always!!!
We will be traveling up the intracoastal, which is a protected waterway that runs from Canada around the tip of Florida and up to the Anclote River. At that point you have to go out into the Gulf Of Mexico at least 13 miles to be sure you don't run aground. Then you catch a couple rivers to the Mississippi, into the Great Lakes. The route is called "The Great Loop" (I think), and is something I would love to do. Only thing holding me back is money - for a bigger boat, fuel, food, marinas and breakdowns.
Our boat is a dual console catamaran (which is a fancy name for a bowrider that has a head. It sports a half tower and I have a full and partial enclosure for it.
We take numerous "cruises" during the year but we haven't gone out into the Atlantic any distance yet. My wife is trying to convince me that I want to go to the Bahamas, but hasn't succeeded yet.
We do regularly go out into the Gulf for fishing and diving, but the most has been 15 miles. There are hardcore fisherman that go 30 to 50 miles in our size boat. Just depends on the weather.
