Re: Mfg oil vs Synthetic for breaking in
"Kenny, I dont know if you are aware or not but many TCW3 oils are partially synthetic now days wether they are labeled as such or not. Synthetic PIB's are used instead of bright stock as it helps with visable smoke and deposits."
It's hard to type words on a screen and expect someone to understand "how" you are trying to say something.
When I seen your reply as "I don't know if you are aware, But"...I laughed because there is no way for you to understand any one persons experience level, just by what they type.....
What I'm "trying" to say, is you don't know that we were a Johnson dealer for 22yrs, you don't know that I am an "AI", you don't have any way to know I specialize in Turbine engines, you have no idea the fact I've been trained in 2 outboard manufactures, I;ve been factory certified on 3 small engine manufacturers, not only as tech, but Master tech (advanced level).
You know nothing about anyone's experience, you just seem to assume you know more....maybe you do, I don't know....But, I can tell you in all of the J/E carbed 2-stroke manuals I happen to have at the house here, they DO state NOT to run synthetic oil during the break-in period, and the list of oils that can be used.
I should also note, the XD series of oils all have "some" synthetic base, but the number behind the XD has Nothing to do with the amount of synthetic, which happens to be only 5% in one of those oils.
Continue doing things the way they work for you, I'll follow my own ideas....
