Great last post Mark. Recovery at home is by far the best scenario.:):) Will keep Amber and the family in our prayers.

I know everyone is glad she is back home. I'm sure Amber is too...she should be much more comfortable and happier...there's no place like home.
Is the pic line still attached?
I assume she has to continue the antibiotics for a while yet (?).

Amber is doing very well. This morning they installed a "pic"

Amber still can't walk on her foot, but she is getting around on crutches and her fever is only 99.

We are so estatic that there were no real complications or setbacks during her treatment at the hospital. The staff was great and they know how to handle nervous and anxious sick kids.

Maybe we can all sleep through the night for a change.

Thanks for all your prayers and well thoughts. It sure looks to me like they all helped.

Good to hear she is doing better, but I must have missed the prognosis. Keep us up to date on her progress.

Re: My Daughter is very sick.

Mark, if I read that right Amber was discharged today and we are really glad to hear she is home!
Sounds like she was a very brave young girl through all of this and we hope the rest of her recovery is smooth sailing.

I know schools are cleaned and sanitized daily but if Dr. Mom says she needs a couple more days of house rest on Monday - then no rushing Amber back to germ central just yet!

Re: My Daughter is very sick.

Glad to hear everything is going well with your daughter Mark. I remember when my son got appendicitis (sp?) while my wife and I were away for our anniversary. I was absolutely panicked until I got home and to the hospital to see him. Seeing your child lying on a hospital bed and in pain is absolutely gut-wrenching.

You and your family have all my and my family's best wishes for a speedy recovery.

PS: Ice cream and chocolate are great medicines for the soul. :D:D:D

Thank goodness that you got on this and had aggressive care, my niece who had this infection a little more advanced is still having bad affects from it,, she learned today she will need a hip replacement. do to the damage. I believe she had the same doctors that are caring for amber. just didn't catch in time and it was in the hip.

Oh Lord! That is too bad. Her parents must be beside themselves. This was one of my big worries about Amber. My sympathies and prayers to her parents and your family for a safe outcome.

Amber is doing very well now. We initially thought that after she was on her feet that she could go to school with the PICC line. But after a few days of changing antibiotic bags, swabbing with alcohol, flushing the line with saline then anticoagulant, we decided we could not take the chance of infection from sick kids or an accident from kids rough housing or trust that the school nurse would not get distracted or make a mistake and infect the PICC line. So she will stay home under our care with a visiting nurse every few days until fully recovered.

Ambers teacher will come over after school for 2 hours of tutoring. This will go on for the next 4 weeks or so, or until Amber returns to school. The school offered this tutoring right away even though they are not required to by law until a student misses 15 days of school. That was nice and greatly appreciated.
