Re: My Daughter is very sick.
Thank goodness that you got on this and had aggressive care, my niece who had this infection a little more advanced is still having bad affects from it,, she learned today she will need a hip replacement. do to the damage. I believe she had the same doctors that are caring for amber. just didn't catch in time and it was in the hip.
Oh Lord! That is too bad. Her parents must be beside themselves. This was one of my big worries about Amber. My sympathies and prayers to her parents and your family for a safe outcome.
Amber is doing very well now. We initially thought that after she was on her feet that she could go to school with the PICC line. But after a few days of changing antibiotic bags, swabbing with alcohol, flushing the line with saline then anticoagulant, we decided we could not take the chance of infection from sick kids or an accident from kids rough housing or trust that the school nurse would not get distracted or make a mistake and infect the PICC line. So she will stay home under our care with a visiting nurse every few days until fully recovered.
Ambers teacher will come over after school for 2 hours of tutoring. This will go on for the next 4 weeks or so, or until Amber returns to school. The school offered this tutoring right away even though they are not required to by law until a student misses 15 days of school. That was nice and greatly appreciated.
