Re: Sportcraft tri-hull rebuild

How about some pics to show us where you're at on the project, and of the 2 small slices you speak of... I don't quite understand.

What are you going to be doing with the resin, laying glass or sealing?
Jig couldn't find pic in the photobucket but if you go to the first page on this thread you will see the cut,2 cuts 1 starboard 1 on portyou will also see the tool I did it with Thanks Jim

Ok, I understand now... you gashed the hull.

You'll use the same materials to fix the gashes as you will to glass in your stringers, transom, and deck and you can use scrap cloth and mat.

Do you have your transom and stringers glassed in yet? Where exactly are you at on this project, you mentioned working on the deck? If you're going to be working on decking you should already have resin, CSM mat, and 1708 Biax cloth.

Posting pics of your project as you precede to keep us updated will help us help you better.

I am using 1.5 oz mat on the deck and transom. Also layered with woven roven as well. I'm also using polyester resin as well. Keep reading the other builders threads for their ideas. I've learned a lot over the years from these guys. Are you replacing the stringers as well? Are they plywood or lumber?

I replaced a couple of stringers, but 95 percent was good the glass did the job not letting the wood rot as you can see I am ready to do some resin I guess? Weather is going to be great so I thought I would fix my slices and work on transom and deck. I used the arauco plywood so I wanted to know which resin to get I think the poly Thanks Jim

The first quart I mixed up went well clumped up at the end so I so I used less hardener on the 2nd batch but with cooling temp it was slow to dry hope that doesn't mess me up

I learned that slow to dry is okay. And it is. It will be as hard as a rock. Just follow woodonglass and it will be okay. Wood looks great. Your in better shape than I am.

In post #69, the pix that were there, did you relocate them into a new folder @PB or rename them?

Just like a windows computer:
If you look for:
C://EagleJim/TransomDetail#1

you may not find:
C://EagleJim/BoatRehab/TransomDetail#1.....

And PB posts that photo removed graphic....

Other then maybe randomizing the file names, I can't think of any settings you may have selected after 1st opening your PB acct, did you opt IN for the new & improved PB (many, me included, think it is none of these) or keep the original? If you choose the original, and then kept the automatic change over to the new, something may have been lost in between...

EDIT:
whatever the problem, it's been resolved, the pix are back..........

Eaglejim, are you sure you made those slices? My boat has holes in the exact same two spots. On the port side there was a factory void in the fiberglass so there was only gelcoat in that spot and it broke through at some point. The starboard side has been repaired at some point with fiberglass for a hole or cut there.
