    This motor is electric shift.----The safety switch is on the engine block.-----Will not crank if throttle is open too far.-----The safety switch has to do with cranking and nothing to do with lack of spark.

    If you can solve it with big $$$ then you do not have a problem.----New motors are the best option for many folks.

    The stator is made up of 2 sets of windings.-----One set to charge the battery through a rectifier.----The other set provides a voltage burst to charge the capacitor in the powerpack ( cd / switch box )----And no the 2 sets of windings do not talk to each other, they are separate.

    Normal.-----Water dumps out of the engine to cool the exhaust.----Check the plastic washer at the top of the copper water tube.

    I would not hesitate to do the seal kit now.----Seals do wear out over time.----Replace pinion bearing while it is apart.----No real special tools required either.

    Some will argue.----But it is easy to take these pumps apart.----Inspect and repair.----The oil side is a wee piston with an o-ring.----Have you checked the oil filter in the oil tank ?----Done the oil output test to compare the 2 units ?

    But the tell tale water does NOT circulate through the block.----It tells you the water pump is working.----It does not indicate proper cooling.

    Try to remove the bolts.----But if they do not budge use heat on the block.------Aluminum expands at twice the rate of steel...----That is why most bolts will loosen when the threaded hole opens a wee bit.

    A control box with big red plug works on a motor with a big red plug.----Correct on the trim / tilt.---Just about every big motor today has trim / tilt.----Not the same as the 1970's motors when it was an expensive option.

    Clips are 19 cents when you pick it out of the bin at your local hardware store.----When a shop identifies the part you need.----Orders it.---Part is retrieved from an expensive warehouse and shipped to you it is a $7.00 part.---And I do not believe anyone is making a lot of money on that item.

    Get rid of that " mickey mouse " bracket.----Put cable through the tilt tube on the motor.----Tighten the nut.----Hook up the draglink.
