    Light corrosion in cylinder BF130

Oh , I wasnt aware that you actually suspected a cracked head or block , sorta changes things a bit ....but I think Id still run it to see whats what . If there has been water getting into a combustion chamber it will have a lot less carbon build up on the piston top and cylinder head . 🤞

    Light corrosion in cylinder BF130

Dude , I know its not great but that rust aint bad compared to some I have seen . Honestly if that were mine Id tip a bit of oil in the cylinder , crank it over a bit , put the plugs in and kick her in the guts , run it for half an hour ,test the comp and if it doesnt go down ..... change...

    Trail Cam pix......

yeah , all that aside ....they cant be nice for the deer . Im trying to think what use a tick would be nature wise ...like if we suddenly wiped out all the ticks , what would happen

    Trail Cam pix......

:D yeah , I figured but it did say "3 million ticks each year ". I dont think I have ever seen one here but my cat treatment says " fleas , ticks and worms " Apparently we do have the Haemaphysalis longicornis Tick here but not in great numbers .

    Wood stove install

I put mine ( and anyone else's who I change their oil ) into a 44 gallon steel drum ...I have nearly filled 2 . I strain it thru a sieve because the intention was always to burn it . Couple of years ago I gave a whole drum to a niebough ....who , to my mind waisted it ( if you can waist...

    Trail Cam pix......

Gee ! the weight alone would drag a deer down ....and the blood loss would be huge ....no wonder they raid gardens , they must be looking for high iron and protein foods .

    Trail Cam pix......

I been watching peeps gunning down ( you could hardly call it hunting ) coyotes at good distances on you tube .....I guess the grass is greener , Id love to snipe a few coyotes ....specially if they were killing other critters I like , but we dont have anything like them here .

    No tach,no charging

On a smaller outboard not necessarily , as in my case with a plastic boat and a motor that does not require a battery to run but has a charging coil you would have to run a separate earth / neg to the battery . I could ground the reg neg wire to the motor.........:unsure: actually...

    No tach,no charging

Yeah , thats what I think too again Yeah , but if one part of a winding is down to earth there would have to be another earthing point in the circuit like the reg/rect. Not all of them are , my wee Tohatsu has a charging coil but both ends of this coil go to the reg/rect , which is not...

    No tach,no charging

Yes that can happen but at a 60vac output from the coils .....well if it takes only 60v to push thru the insulation it pretty much knackered anyway ( and could be the real problem ). I use a 500v insulation tester on very similar coils on 3 phase 16vdc pwm motors and 300vdc motors ( both of...

Starting engines with jump box & dead house batteries

The back voltage you refer to is called excitation and its that which the regulator manipulates to control output voltage . Some alts are self exciting ( not usually automotive ) in that some of the output is directed to the excitation coil but you still gotta get them to spin in the 1st...

Starting engines with jump box & dead house batteries

I can recommend a Victron Blue IP22 smart charger....should have bought one years ago . My only beef is that the bluetooth range aint that great.

What's the word on the street about current Mercury models?

Yeah I been quizzing AI about my quad flywheels and the trigger node differences in production years , and by transposing the question different ways you get different answers to the same basic enquirery ( AI doesnt know how to spell inquiery ....neither do I but that's not the point ).:D

    Wood stove install

Local codes round here are a bit strange . If one was to install a wood ( or multi fuel ) burner in ones house it must be compliant pollution wise and it requires a permit and be done by a registered installer and inspection from the local council. so I gets all honest about my shed pot belly...

    Can’t close cowling on 2000 BF130

Looks to me like you need to rotate the latch handle 90deg , looks like the latch is in the closed position in the pic. You may have to push down on the cover as you rotate the latch to close it.

    Wood stove install

I got one similar but with only one hot plate on top . Going to adapt it so can burn used motor oil ( I have nearly 400litres ) , but my plan is to have the flue coming out of the roof at an angle and put some fins on it and paint it up to look like rear half of a rocket missile

Favorite pistols? Here’s a few of mine, a few I haven’t shot yet, looking forward to the 44 magnum.

Gawd I can remember when the middle gun in the pix was stored , along with the ammo and cleaning gear , in my bedroom cupboard . I also remember getting my arse kicked for playing with it.
