    Flood in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Re: Flood in Grand Rapids, Michigan I'm not naive and know Photoshop but maybe some news footage can convince you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7NR1yEB1z8 (1m.:00s.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7NR1yEB1z8 (0m.:27s.) That building, in front, seems to be the Van Andel public museum...

    1991 14 FT Sea Nymph 14K

Re: 1991 14 FT Sea Nymph 14K For the rod holders, you could use some Down-East S-10 clamp-on. Sturdy as it can be (muskies fisherman use them almost exclusively) and no need to drill anything. For the switch/fuses panel, is there's a way you could remove (drill rivets?) or have access to the...

    Flood in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Here's some incredible pics taken this week in this area I hope for those involved that everything will return to normal soon. But really, what are the chance you could snap a pic of a bass swimming by your office window? Fish swims by window in Grand Rapids, Mich., floodwaters...

    Removeable swing tongue?

Past winter, I added a Fulton swing-away tongue hinge to my trailer tongue. I towed with it a couple of times and everything's fine. There's a 5/8" bolt on one side and a pin on the other side and it's tight with no slap at all. Now, as a mean to deter thieves, I thought of making it...

    Load guides

Re: Load guides The ones made from PVC pipes are only a visual aid to help "seeing" the trailer underwater and they also help when backing up your trailer. Not really meant to be bumped by the boat. The ones with guides-on bunks are "self-aligning" and are usually set with only about 2" of...

    Suggestions on boat replacement

Re: Suggestions on boat replacement Yep, similar layout. I don't know where you are but here's what looks like an immaculate BW Outrage 18, freshwater-used only, without bottom paint, full canvas set, updated electronics and a newer Suzuki 4-stroke (he didn't say if it's a 115 or a 150) with...

    steering wheel grease

Re: steering wheel grease Generally no. That's why some like to add the Steersman nut, which is the SS nut with a grease fitting on the right in this pic. It purpose being to push lube into the steering tube. Not to be mistaken with the 2 grease fitting on the pivot arm (on the left), that...

    Livewell question

Re: Livewell question Overkill. You'll need a water inlet so, on a jon boat, I'd use the transom plug hole. Get a Tsunami 500gph at $25 like this one,10ft of 3/4" bilge hose, a $5 spray head here, a couple of thru-hull fittings of the appropriate size like that and some PVC tubing and elbow to...

The quest for the "perfect" auxiliary engine.....DONE!

I've been looking for a while to find the "perfect" kicker to my "new to me" boat (see sig.). What I was looking for was a "get home" emergency use motor. With my previous boat, it happened two times that I "lost" the main engine (a 1993 Merc 60hp) while fishing, the first being an overheating...

    Fuses vs breakers?

Just wondering: is there's a practical reason why fuses are still in use these days on boats instead of resettable breakers, other than their low cost? On mine, there's one breaker from the battery going to the main bus, but from there it's all fuses... They've get rid of them a long time ago...

    A Crestliner Question

Re: A Crestliner Question Typical bilge/aerator pumps outlet and hoses rigged on that size boats are 3/4" ID (1" OD). Even if you don't use it for fishing, it's still a fishing boat, and a nice one BTW, so unless you plan to keep it forever, I wouldn't bypass the livewell cause a...
