Nice! Did it come with a trailer, boat and tarp as well? :)

Under penalty of death by frying pan from the Admiral, I am unable to confirm that rumor

But there may be a new Star tucked into the boatyard for safe keeping

Warning.... graphic shot here... as promised... the wound.... :D

Really quite swollen and just kinda a bad spot for hand movement... really easy for the wound to re-open if I move the thumb really at all. Hopefully, it will heal up quickly!!!

The stiches should hold everything in place eh! Get to work!

(Yah, I got in big trouble with my surgeon. He gave me my "walking" papers very early in or relationship, whoops.)

That is a nasty cut Jim, if your right handed there is really no reason you can't get at it.!!:D You should be well into the planning on this project, have everything setteled prior to starting, that way you won't have to take a week or two and 400 posts to figure out where your batteries go. ;):p
Hope it heals up quick.

I recommend a slathering of 5200, to keep all the innards contained.

Dozer that's funny^^^^

8 years installing residential HVAC systems (including fabricating all of the metal ductwork) has taught me that duct tape and a small piece of paper towel works just as good as stitches to hold a large laceration together. Even if I see bone, I can avoid the hospital that way. Plus you can keep on working and it keeps dirt & water out. I miss that job even with the nasty wet crawl spaces and extremely hot attics.

Since all of us here are working on old boats, We should try old fishing line to stitch up a wound and maybe use an old hook with the barb removed. Or, maybe rivets?

LOL!!! Man you guys are a riot! 4200 or 5200 ---maybe some JB Weld --- at least it's sandable! Gotta look purdy ya know!

Once the swelling goes down... I should be able to move it! Right now it is as stiff as a board! Can't move it a cdn millimeter! :)

Did manage to one hand rake for a bit this am.... slooooooooow but sure...

Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Well guys...sitting here thinking what day will I be able to get back at it!!! Today is the first day that I can bend the tip of my thumb... the swelling is finally starting to go down enough to allow a little movement. Yippee!!! I can also for the first time put some pressure on it to actually lift or do something --- so good news. Funny thing is that I basically have no feeling whatsoever in the thumb.... feels frozen... really strange. There is a little on the top side towards the wound... but that's about it.

Goal this weekend is to try and build the frame to hold the Jet and get the Jet off the trailer. I need to get the trailer up north BEFORE the snow comes... so not much time left!! I may enlist my daughter to help hold things whilst I screw things together! Some good father/daughter tool time bonding!!

It seams a bit quite around the Starcraft forum these days... hopefully everyone is busy buying more project boats for the winter!!! :D

Have a great evening all...

Glad to see your thumb healing up, I noticed the same thing on the forum, pretty quiet. Snow is coming today and the rest of the week should have about 20 cm by Sunday if the forcast is correct.

Thanks guys! Gotta get back at the boats! Going slightly nuts waiting!!! It's tough --- like putting a box of cookies in front of the cookie monster and then says whoa... you can't eat those!

Soon enough I'll get back at it... hopefully this weekend!

Jim - The forums are quiet while waiting for you to start working again. It's not nice to kick a man while he's down. Glad the thumb is starting to come around, Sometimes it takes a while for the nerves to re-attach so on the good side, a good hammer whack can be almost painless.

lol!!! Yah... I've been doggin' it... lot's of gabbin' but not much action!!! Gotta git my butt in gear!

I literally could hit my thumb with a hammer and not feel much of anything! But I think I'll pass on that!

Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Alrighty fellas... got some forward motion!! So my Dad and I build what can best be described as a boat dolly. With the Jupiter the 3 individual dollies I had with tiny wheels worked... well... poorly to say the least. So using a bunch of scrap wood I had lying around and the old bunks off of one my boat trailers, 3 new 5" rubber locking swivel wheels we conjuered up this:

IMAG0594.jpg

The front piece looks cockeyed --- but it isn't... just looks funny in the photo!

IMAG0595.jpg

Worked brilliantly... loaded up the Jet in 3 minutes... and parked her in the garage for a long winter's re-build!

IMAG0596.jpg

It may not look like it in the photo's but there is a ton more room in the shop/garage now.... I can easily walk around the boat and it is a snap to move it. Just gotta get the cabinet finished and back up north and then it is boat time.

We also carried the Falcon into the backyard and put it up behind the garage... it was a tight fit between the garage and the house as it actually rubbed both going through... but it is up there. Only split one stitch doing all the work! So not bad really!! :)

Have a great weekend fellas!!

You do have a lot more room remembering the N.T. build with the rock track. Careful with the hand, IM.
