Your assistant seems to be a tail dragger when the grinders & sanders come out to do some boat work!

Nice work repairing the keel! W/ or w/out assistant....

Re: 1979 Imperial

Good day gang,

So since I'm super anal and figured it's better to practice on the bottom first...... I thought hey! I'll waste more time by practicing some additional fairing today. Yesterday I completely sanded the bottom with 60 grit, followed by 80 final per epoxy coating directions. I only need to sand the additional fairing work, wash the hull with vinegar/water, rinse her all down with acetone, and cover a few sections and I'm ready to roll and tip! I hope to at least get one coat tonight, if not during the week I'll have it painted! I need to view some YouTube videos before I attempt this... Not sure how much epoxy to mix at a time yet either... never the less I'm close to flippin!

Note how I have the bottom taped off... I think it's gonna be coolio!

You should make a video of the roll/tip. I'd like to see how it goes.

The peak will certainly make it a distinctive bow. Remind me, white hull bottom & keeping the hull sides yellow?

Best of luck getting some paint on it tonight or this week.

Nice to see someone making some progress, and looking good...wish i could find the time and money to invest in my project, but honestly starting a business is tapping my resources in both areas. Cannot wait to see that boat flipped over

I should just have left it as I'm keel guarding it! I'm a freak! Yes, yellow sides and white bottom hull... Looks like paint starting tomorrow eve after work...

Hey JDA, I hear ya... Coin is tight with me also... I had some Gander Mtn. gift cards to help bite a good chunk of the CMC unit... If I had my own business I'd also direct fundage other places than the hole in my boat also! ;) It's just gonna take more time for ya brutha! Thanks for stopping by bro-

Re: 1979 Imperial

Sunday night re-cap...

Well no paint yet...

Practicing fairing was cool... I can see how this process is work and art at the same time... The masters of glass are nuts, but still are gods in my book! I appreciate how much work it takes to get a boat to look straight.. The Imperial will be my attempt of the illusion my boat is straight, because it's far from it! :p

before glass repair.

After, Notice the lighter fairing material that's left in the low area's after sanding...

Awesome video, thanks brutha Jon!

I doubt it brutha Troop!

Looking great Bear, following along now! :)

Thanks for checking things out brutha! I hope to be cranking this project out in the next few months...

Re: 1979 Imperial

Bretheren, and any Sistas out dare hey!

Well I rolled and tipped my first coat of Interlux epoxy bottom paint.

I'm still thinking about what just happened? I know it's good but need time to crunch data...

Troop, sorry brutha but maybe I'll try makin a vid when I have a clue!

Anyhow this is random stutter...

I think adding a 1:10 thinner to epoxy gives better flow when tipping. I noticed the viscosity change of the paint toward the end of half of each hull side... I needed to thin it a tad...

I can see lines from each section I overlapped. I was working in 18" blocks... I'm sure the next coat will cover my worries away...

Anyhow here are some pics!

I dig the white and Yeller!

PS, I'd doing at least 4 -5 thin coats... (per Interlux)
