Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

It always amazed me that boat zincs were dissolving away until I sat back and thought "Take a tub full of hydrogen sufide cells, hook them and all of the metal parts together, energize the entire structure, add 110v power from an unsecured power plant, and immerse the whole shebang in a giant brine solution with 200 other boats."

It's a wonder the whole boat isn't covered with a pale green corrosive residue from day 1...

Got you thinking about zincs lately?:D

Brilliant concept... a sacrificial metal to distract activity from the boat.

Sounds great!!!

Don't know what I was thinking when I told you we'd be arriving early morning on the 17th... That was the original plan. We'll already be there.

Thanks to my wife (and The Gerber Babies Blog), this has turned into what will be a very interesting vacation. She's working with two different PR people. One of them is with the City of St Augustine, who will be providing us with Hotel accomodations and all kinds of fun and interesting things to do from the 14th through the 18th. From the 18th through the 22nd, we've been provided an oceanside house by the St Francis Inn Bed-N-Breakfast. Again, with tours and activities for my wife to review. We're looking forward to the resteraunt reviews!!!:) Heck, we're looking forward to all of this.

The 17th and 18th are stricktly iboats days. We will only have to check out of our hotel, and into the beach house. Other than that, no obligations.:D

I'll be keeping the boat at the marina for a week. The daily rate is 19.95 per foot. The weekly rate is 9.95 per foot. Everything is just falling into place for this trip.

Looking forward to meeting up with you on Friday 17JUN11!!!:D:D:D

DANG!.....veritas honus. After all you have been thru, you are finally coming out smelling like a rose. I knew it would happen. You know.... we both have been knocked down, but we just may be the luckiest people around. Like the saying goes "You've come a long way, baby"

See ya' Friday, my friend!

We both have been knocked down, indeed. In more ways than one. As our friend Fireman so elequently put it, we are living charmed lives, aren't we...

I've always found, the harder I work, the luckier I get. I know we've both been working really hard. You've shared some of the beautiful work you've been doing. I'm sure what you've shared, doesn't even scratch the surface. I've been working some pretty insane hours myself. When I'm not on a transport, I'm in the emergency room doing RN work for patients. My shifts are 12 hours and I've been working 5 and 6 nights per week.

My wife has been working really hard with The Gerber Babies Blog. She puts her heart and soul into her writing. I'm really proud of her, and what she does.

Regarding Friday 17JUN11, any idea what time you'd like to get there? I'm really pushing for heading up the ICW to meet Fireman on the water in Jax and coming back to St Augustine together. When I told her about you and Kimi joining us on Friday, and about what I'd said regarding the children convincing her to take the cruise to Jax, after asking if I was always going to use the children like that, I told her under no uncertain terms... Of course.;) Anyway, she told me some wining and dining would probably convince her. So the point is... You'll need to arrive in time to join us.:D We'll all talk more about that if it's something you'd like to do.

Gotta go for now.

If you guys were to slide up to Jax in VH's boat and take the ride back with us, that would be a great "getting to know each other" cruise. Nice conversation and a little lunch would be a good thing! Hope you guys can make the trip!

ONLY 26 MORE DAYS TILL DEPARTURE!!

Geeez guys! Looks like I'll have to be there Thursday to make the trip with you. Maybe we can plan a sunset dinner with veritas honus and the Misses Thursday eve. Hop on his boat and head to meet Fireman in Jax on Friday for the trip back. Maybe have the grill fired up by the time nlain gets there. Lets hope some of the other guys can make it too!

Sound like a plan?

We have no clue what the itinerary for my wife's review is going to entail at this point; but if Thursday afternoon/evening is clear... sounds fantastic!!!

Sasto, my Friend, you've just brought another part of our get together another day closer!!!:D Thank You!!!

"Just over a week.:D:D" just got a little closer!!!;)

After 18 pages of thread (and counting), what are you going to do when we all get together and realize we have nothing to say to each other?!? We'll just sit and stare at one another!! This won't be awkward at all!

I'm really looking forward to it. We'll exchange number prior to our departure so we can stay in contact. Jax's waterway is a wide river. Do you have a GPS on your boat? Coordinates would workout well in the event we aren't moored up when you arrive.

Now you have a guide with you! I'm sure Sasto's been thru there before...

Nope, Fireman, never been that streach of the ICW. I'm sure we will be fine. I'll bring some electronics, a chart and a phone that is much smarter than me.

I'd say I'm really looking forward to it, too, but that would be an understatement!!!;)

The only GPS I have at the moment is the one from my truck. I do take it on the water, but it's only good for a visual overview, and for true speed. When I can afford one, I'll get a good GPS/Chartplotter/Fishfinder. Until then, though, I'll do just fine. Now that I'm thinking of it, though, of course I can enter coordinates into the auto GPS...Duh!!! Anyway, even without the GPS, it won't be a problem, Fireman.

I gave you my cell phone number a while back in a PM. Still have it? It hasn't changed. I've got yours from a PM you responded with. Has yours changed, or still the same?

I have several guide books of the East Coast and Skipper Bob's is is a good one for navigating the Waterway. I almost always have somebody knowing where I am at on a chart. Good idea you have.....No Worries!

WOW, I cant even come close to keeping up with this thread. I tried to read it all but by the time I was done there was another page. LOL. J/K.

I dont know if anyone is aware, but another boating club, activeboating.com, is also planning a trip to St Augustine that weekend. If we are able to go, I will probably be coming up with them, since most will be coming out of the Daytona area I think.

Well I got my room at the Marion Motor Lodge across the road from the marina, check in 6-17 PM, checkout 6-19. Can't we find a way to cut some more days off of this wait. :D I am ready.

That's good, mnypitboat. Maybe we can add some new menbers to the iboats store!
