Who, in what year, and how fast was the record speed ever recorded by a NASCAR car? And at what track?

And.....who set the record speed for a NASCAR car with the restrictor plate removed?

Broadcast is on, starting to get serious now, I have always been an Dale Earnhardt fan and today I will be pulling for his son, hopefully he can finally live up to his namesake. My other cars are Jimmy Johnson and Greg Biffle. Being a 30 year NASCAR fan I have few cars that I dislike since old drivers turn into team owners and believe it or not I have never disliked Jeff Gordon. I have enjoyed the truck race and the nationwide race so far this weekend I should also say I will be rooting for the hometown Furniture Row Race team and Regan Smith today

The clips they showed in the Dale Earnhardt tribute were from the Speed Channel's "The Day".
I have watched it a few times now and it has choked me up each time.

Not sure I have it in me to watch that.....

We had watched the race from a Vegas casino and rushed back to base after Mikey took the checker so I had not seen much of the coverage.
We didn't even find out about Dale until we stopped for gas on the way back to Barstow. I still didn't believe it until we got back to the NTC.

"The Day" was very well done.

I saw it all, I had that sick feeling when they ran him out of the speedway in the ambulance I went outside to wash my truck and listened on the radio as they were constantly updating the situation and when the announcement finally came I kind of already knew what it was....strange but I don't know why but I knew

always been a JR fan, started at the tail currently in 7th, not many drivers i dont like. I have huge respect for all the drivers!
