Diode installation on 1972 Rude CD Ignition

Cranking voltage is way too low at ~8 or 9 volts. You are wasting your time till you figure out why so low. Sounds like a dead cell in the battery. Have it load tested.

Water pump not pumping enough water

So water was spraying out the discharge. Do you think that was not enough, or what? Was it overheating? Turning it with a drill doesn't prove a dang thing except it is going 'round and 'round..

    E/J 9.5 pump head

My question is this: *should the fuel pump draw fuel from a foot below the skeg*? It seems to me that it should--even though in normal use this would never happen. Well that would be quite a lift. Maybe it could, maybe not. In other words, iffy.

    Evinrude 25 - Spun Prop?

Easy to tell. Make a mark on the prop nut, or use the cotter pin as a mark. Make another mark on the prop, aligned with the first mark. Run motor till the suspected slippage occurs. Stop motor and check the marks. If no longer aligned, it slipped.

    What's the difference between model identifiers G, H, R?

The letters represent any mid-year engineering changes that apply. I'm surprised there aren't more for that year. They had a hard time keeping those things running and kept coming out with kits to fix them.

1974 Johnson Sea Horse 65 hp 'OB

Great motors but they can't stand any overheating. If Hydro Electric, shift switches require a mortgage on the farm if needing replacement.

You found the wires. There should be two rubber sleeves on them. Slide the sleeves up the wires to expose the disconnects.

    No joy on 1969 Evinrude

Those spark checkers are ok for a quicky test. But they also can be a great deceiver. Ideally, you need to check for spark on all 4 cylinders at the same time, cranking with the electric starter, and plugs in (to load the starter and battery/electrical system).
