1971 25hp Johnson what part is this....?

number 49, I think: http://ww2.iboats.com/Cylinder-And-Crankcase/dm/cart_id.167902846--session_id.309831223--view_id.1532600 Lockout lever, but not the shift lock which is on the side of the powerhead (#42). Maybe kbait can provide more info. It's got a spring return so maybe that is broken...

After it stops running, loosen the tank cap. There should be a hssss if it's holding air. The motor compresses air in the tank, not the primer button.

    1979 Evinrude 6hp recoil squeal

In addition, spray some WD-40 at the bottom of the spool. (the defense rests.)

    1979 Evinrude 6hp recoil squeal

Because the piece of rope sprays lube over everything it is close to.

2001 Johnson 40 not turn over

You really need at least a parts manual for that motor -- enables you to identify parts. "second switch on the motor that operates the starting" is not coherent imo.

    1979 Evinrude 6hp recoil squeal

Think I would pull the cord out and hold it from retracting. Spray the cord liberally with WD-40 and let it recoil. See if there is a difference when pulling it again.

    1984 35 hp cough/sneeze

Well, oem fuel pump kit is about $20, and may solve problem. Increase in rpm can indicate a lean condition, as when you remove the fuel line to empty lines, and the engine speeds up just before shutting down.

    92 Johnson 60HP Fuel/Spark issue

Sounds ignition related. Check compression and post findings. Measure spark with an adjustable tester (not the inline type). Look for 1/2" sharp spark on each. Check temperature on top of head -- should not be too hot to touch. If you have an IR tester, look for temps. in the 130-140F range.

Sounds ignition related, then (though could be a bit of something in the h.s. orifice). Champion plugs at .030 gap? If it feels like you are hitting something with the lower unit, it may be the clutch dog.

^^think Crosbyman and Racerone are on it. 50:1 for premixers or premix for VRO testing.

    Carb fuel intake nipple cracked

You can get nylon or brass 90 degree fittings at most hardware stores -- don't know what the fitting is into the float chamber, though. Do you know where it leaks? (possible it's just a loose clamp, maybe). I see some marks up at the flanges -- if that's a leaking spot, Crosbyman's suggestion...

    1984 35 hp cough/sneeze

lean sneeze. If you have an idle mixture needle on top of the carb, set is slightly richer (1/8 c.clockwise at a time) until the noise goes away. At idle, in gear, warmed up.

I found cracks on the top of my motor under the stator

Last part of #5, I think, for the noise issue. For the cracks -- light up a cigar, and with the motor running blow some smoke at the powerhead. If it gets sucked in at those cracks, there is an issue. If not, you're just standing there blowin' smoke.... :)

    1971 18HP Evinrude Fastwin

lacquer thinner, not mineral spirits. Pull the spring connecter in the boot out the big end. Reattach by pushing the spike into the center of the wire to contact the metal core. Are you now testing spark with a device of some kind? remove both plugs when testing -- spins faster, and less...

1986 150HP Johnson Beeping from control box and VRO questions

If there is no oil, no not(!!) run the engine. I would mend the line with a straight connector and a couple of clamps from the hardware store, or replace it. But chances are the gas is too old, so a good time to convert if you want to. Plug the oil line at the motor, and unplug the harness...
