    1980 Johnson 25 Driveshaft Seal

agree -- two seals. You might do a pressure test on the gearcase while you have it apart, just to see if and where it is leaking.

    Will only idle on fast

^^^agree. It may be time to thoroughly clean the carb.

    Motor wont start....help please

I'm one of the seafoam nay-sayers -- but mostly when left in the tank (empties tank debris into the carb, imo). Flushing out the engine like Crosbyman suggests is a different story.

    Speed problems on pontoon

It sounds like you are fretting over an extra 2 mph. Try putting more weight up front -- see if that makes the difference.

    1977 Johnson 140hp outboard -

Take the old starter apart and clean it, perhaps putting in new brushes. Good to have a spare.

    1977 Evinrude 25 (25702h)

Water tube goes into a grommet at the powerhead (top) and at a grommet at the water pump (bottom). Take care not to bend over part of the grommet (or collar) as that will block flow.

    1977 Evinrude 25 (25702h)

Run a piece of weed whacker line as far up the tell tale as you can. It's a favorite place for bugs. Important think is running temp. If you can hold your hand on top of the block, temp is probably OK (warm to touch). The water from the tell tale does not circulate through the engine --...

1967 Evinrude fisherman runs way to rich

The idle passages are on the top of the carb. Carb cleaning involves removal of the domed cap up there (new one in the carb kit). After disassembly and soaking of the carb top and bottom, and cleaning all small openings you can find, blow some carb spray through just to make sure. The initial...

flywheel not engaging with crankshaft, Johnson 50hp 1996.

^^+++1 on the key. Use an oem key, as suggested. Be sure to get any bits of the old one out, then polish the taper with some very fine wet/dry sandpaper. Inspect the flywheel, and polish the mating surface there too. Leave no burrs anywhere. Clean with acetone to finish. The flywheel grips...

    1961 10hp Johnson QD-22 Throttle Problem

may have multiple issues. The carb should have a flat spring assembly at the top rear, I think. On close up, it appears something up there has been sawed off.

1980 Johnson 25. Another idle issue

Those thin metal valves (leaf valves) should not be reversed, as it stresses the metal and risks breaks. Replacements are about $60 each, and you need a couple of them. I would be looking around for replacements (last ones I bought were NOS versions for a 10 hp -- maybe you can find something...

had another one here within the week, but can't locate it. Tube was removed and successfully soldered.

Milky fluid on plugs and running out of carb when shut down.

Good luck with it. Hope you solve it. Water contamination in your fuel? bad cover/hood gasket or fit?

Milky fluid on plugs and running out of carb when shut down.

Perhaps new head gaskets, or retorque and test. (Water could be entering the cylinders from the water passages.)

    Evinrude 28hp overheating

Should check the water pump work. Make sure the impeller key is in place, and that the water tube is properly inserted in the grommet (side of the grommet not bent over, causing a partial blockage.) Run a stiff piece of monofilament into the tell tale as far as it will go to see if that solves...
